6 Weeks left of this junk

Hopefully there will only be about 6 more weeks of winter. Drummer Hill should be open by then. We will be floating over rocks and roots instead of scraping down ice littered with gapers. Hill Climbs suck.

Snowboarding the Windham World Cup Course

Stumbled across this old picture of me snowboarding at Windham. This is the "bowling alley" where all those dudes were straight hookin to flat.

You cannot match this pre-race ritual.

Also, I kind of want to try something like this in the gate sometime.

Oliver's Trip to Arequipa - Summit a 20,000 mountain. Hardest 24 hours of my life, I will never complain about a course being too flat again.

Hi everyone, its been a while – let me give you some updates. Since my last post I stayed sick with this damn cold that I can’t seem to kick; only really going yesterday/today. Yea so that went on a good week and a half – at least. Most of the days blended together as I was not riding, trying not to get others sick etc. Also bike is temporarily out of commission. Kept my act clean and didn’t go out drinking or anything for a long time.... but....

Oliver discovers Cuzco: hardest hike a bike of my life, scale a knarley mountain (prefer biking)

Cuzco was very fun – Sam and I gathered our things and began to make some moves from Ollantay. Actually I didn’t gather anything, I pretty much got rid of everything. I headed to the city with simply the clothes on my back (white t and my vital mtb hoody) and a knife, and dumped everything out of my wallet except my drivers license. I did bring some pretty high expectations as I heard from everyone its very fun.

2011...

While Oliver is raging in the southern hemisphere life continues as normal in the cold dark New England winter. Zach, Mer, and I went snowboarding. Zach unintentionally poached it. It was pretty sick actually with the fresh snow and reasonable temps. 2011 GES Schedule should be released by the end of the month. Now back to our south american broadcaster...

Oliver gets to Peru - the land of shutteling. Preface, traveling and first day of riding

So a little preface to some entries I will start making: I have limited internet time so I have been keeping a little log of my activities almost for just a personal account of my experiences as it is easy for days here to just blend together – it’s all riding bikes. The team, family and friends have all wondered what I am up to so here you go, I will start to enter in some of the things I have jotted down – usually late at night when I am beat from riding and have had a bunch of beers. So if you want to read it click the titles for each entry I make to view the full post. Bear with me, if my ramblings are too long – which they most likely are, go back to facebook or whatever. However, you might find it interesting. I am sure this will all filter down to short posts once I have been here for a week or two, ridden all the spots and the whole thing becomes not so peculiar to me in comparison to my past lifestyle. Also it may take some time for me to get good at this and get pics up as my browser automatically puts everything to do with this website in spanish.

Good Way to start the New Year

Highland

Was the spot on Saturday with temps in the upper 50's and sunny. There were over 400 people at the mountain. Mer learned what it takes to get to leaned over while the boys shredded Hellion and buzzed gapers. That wraps up the 2010. Can't wait to snowboard.

wow serious jump session drummer style at Highlands Friday and Saturday. Oliver and I literally buzzed a pack of Cunucks who committed the sin of stopping on a lip.

Eastern States Cup Finals

Wow what a weekend. 10.10.10 Eastern States Cup Finals at Plattekill Mt Roxbury, NY was all about beers and podiums for DR. Oliver took second in the Pro ranks for the series and 7th on the day w/ a mech.
Drummer Racing owned the Cat 1 box with Sam taking the win and series title and Jack placing 2nd on the day and 4th in the series.
TJ placed 3rd for the series in Cat 3. Yeah TJ!!
Mer smoked the competition by 30 seconds in her race for the win (and did not fall either days ) and took 3rd in the series. In retrospect. 2010 was one of the team's most successful years to date.
One race left and its the important one.

GES FINALS

Drummer continues to kill the competition well into the fall as Sammy C. takes his 2nd win of 2010 and places himself 3rd overall for the2010 GES Series in meow 1. Oliver finished the GES Series as the 7th overall pro in 2010 with a consistent season on a variety of race courses. Whiteface

Bikes are getting fixed as Sam Jack and Zach all have some serious wrenching to do.
Whiteface is on the way up this weekend. Course is long and jarring. We did our homework on Saturday, then ripped Killington on Sunday. RESULTS http://www.allsportsevents.com/Results/mountain_bike_results/GES2010/Whiteface2010.html It rained slightly before finals on Sunday. It didn't really disturb the course that much. Sick sick weekend. On to Plattekill for NY STATE CHAMPS!

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

What a Weekend

This is the e-mail my girlfriend's dad (fellow rider) sent me after seeing our antics at Windham.... Sammy, So, UCI dh World Cup (finals, no less) comes to the east coast, Windham Mt.. A chance in a life-time. Right? Proper track, great weather, nice digs. Where were the hoards of high black sock/Five Ten/flat brim wearin', dh east coasters? Thank god Nicolas Vouilloz (The Almighty) wasn't there to see the lack of insanity. Europe anyone? But, wait. To fill the road gap and more... Enter the Drummer Racing Band of Gypsies. A jammin' 110 decible boom box, vuvuzela, whistle keepin' the flow, Old Glory on a stick and a rag-tag bunch degenerates (or dh'ers, hard to tell) letting the crowd know what's up. (Want some, get some, bad enough, ......) On their way down the mountain, they gave the crowd a reminder of how a dh crowd should misbehave. Good form boys! Thanks for the effort. Old Man

Drummer Racing and company will be making a total ruckus at the World Cup Championship in Windham, NY this weekend. Compound, check. Coolers, check. Cowbells, check. Custom Drummer Racing flag, check. Place your bets (on who will win, or on who will pass out with their shoes and sunglasses still on).

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Plattekill

The compound is headed out to the catskill mountains tomorrow night. Oliver and I both sit in 2nd in the ESC in our respective meows (categories). The weather looks really good and the mountain should be dry. The course wasn't photographed so I don't know what it will include. It will be a nice surprise. RACE REPORT http://live-timing.com/race2.php?r=20147&u=60 The course was a mix of 2009 GES with a different finish that traversed back left of the POC road gap. Super low turn out = no lift line. It was fast on Saturday and pretty dry with everyone taking some big stacks in practice. Then it rained for 10 hours. It was cold and windy at the top on sunday with lots of fog. Finally got some more box but my run didn't feel like it.

Killington GES 6 Results

Great weekend. Long course. Overall results are up on live timing. No injuries or mechanical problems. Dry weather, relatively dry track. So close to box. Moving on to Platty and Eastern States # 6.

Windham WC Final Schedule

http://racewindham.squarespace.com/race-schedule/ so sick. they have it set up so we can watch Saturday wc qualified racers practice, then practice our race course, then race at 3pm sat afternoon.

GES @ Killington

The course is good. 7 a got cleaned up where it needed it and the bottom of 23 is also cleaned up with a new exit. Its long its pedal fest in spots and super tech in others. If it rains it will be a battle. Killington was so dry and fast this weekend. The course is already starting to show some signs of wear with a hole or two popping up. Hoping the weather continues to be awesome into the week.

Skate Park Tour 2010/ Drive Home

So instead of driving straight home to NYC today, I used a website called Concrete Disciples to map out a couple of skate parks that weren't far off of I-91 and I-95. I found Greenfield skate park, which I'd been to before and Milford skate park in Connecticut, which I'd never been to before. Greenfield was sick, had the whole place to myself, rode there for about 45 minutes, super hot, sweat a ton. Milford was super sick. Bit of a puney little "street" section, but the concrete bowl and transitions were a ton of fun to ride. Ended my tour at the Highbridge Park dirt jumps in NYC, which had changed quite a bit since my last time riding there. Took quite a few runs to dial in the new flow of the jumps, made more difficult by the distraction of obnoxious dominicans yelling behind me. Overall, trip was a great success and it certainly won't be the last time.

GES #5 Sugarbush

The course was nasty wide and fast up top. ninja lines were to be had. it wasn't wet but it wasn't dry either. Zach returns to normal with a 6th in pro Mer got the new bike on the podium with a 3rd Oliver threw down another mid pack pro finish with 12 Sam crashed twice but was mid pack in meow 1 with a 422 Jack didn't crash with a 418. Doug had some issues but will rip @ Killington, the next stop for GES. Sugarbush results http://live-timing.com/report.php?r=20101&rp=391966

Proposed Weekend for Drummer Race #2

September 4/5, any opposition?

BVT

Saw Ollie, Mel and Jude getting their Kabob on last night at 10:30 while I was going to KKDs for the dankness. Congrats to Jack and Mer on their new pad in Dub-bury. And I am glad to see that Sammy is learning why RM and other sites are lame-o. Enjoy the backlash, but dont worry, it builds character...haha Hope everyone has been working on their fitness. As Jack said, it's getting intense.

The Bush is upon us

sugarbush returns for a third year as the GES rolls into VT. The next three GES tracks will all be 5 min plus and natural long and nasty. Ski slope and lots of it more swampthings. Oh yeah pracetice is from 10 am - 6 pm. i witnessed a broken bar post race last weekend. no injury but it was cool.

Ridemonkey

Started a thread about Mt. Snow, already regret it, might delete it.

ESC #5

Returns to the last event at Mt Snow. They didn't run the traditional sport beginner. They ran something new but familiar with grassy ski slope muddy ass turns. that were fun. they DID NOT tape the course all that well again. which lead to some freddy lines. results are up. swampthings rule.

also in 2nd for ESC
Jack sits in 2nd @ ESC for cat 1.
Sam sits in 6th in GES fro cat 1
Zach has the banged up but not out injury bug.
We are rolling into August which is a stacked month from the start. Get the work until until then.
Killington is doing so much work to make their mountain better. Can't wait for the GES

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Managed to get to Killington twice in the past two weeks. The trails are getting worked on. The cable trail will soon be the jump trail. The GES race course will rival the whiteface 5k. the new entrance to the berm trail is super dope

Warm-Up Weenie

I feel like I've become a bit of a fitness/ warm-up/ cool down weenie as of late but I feel like it is an area that is extremely overlooked. In a very timely manor, this popped up on DirtMag. I think it could certainly benefit all of us. http://dirt.mpora.com/news/prerace-preparation-warm.html

Plattekill GES Results

complete results will be posted when they are up. for Drummer it went like this. Sam got 5/28 made box cat 1 way to go . This kid has two podiums this year. Oli continues to find mid pack in the pros with 15/28 Zach had a big spill on Friday and didn't get a feel for it after that. Jack didn't ride fast enough with cat 1 17/28 not good not good Mer broke in her new bike and didn't fall either days. It was so dry and dusty, so much for east coast mud. The delay to the race really added a mental challenge to a stacked field of competitors, on a course that was laden with landmines that could wreck a race run. GES moves onto Highland Mountain this weekend.

Eastern States See U P

It was a good course. Lots of weird ski slope turns. One huck into a bounce down corner and the politically correct yardsale. It rained right before the race for 15 min. I fell and lost a chance at a top 5 after I told myself not to midrun. but cow bells make your balls bigger. Oli wasn't to far off 4th place in pro click on link for results

7 Spring Results

Not to shabby more consistent results from Drummer. Zach got his mulligan race out of the way early it looks like, which is unfortunate but he will be back on it at Plattekill for GES #3 I just know it. Sam missed box by a couple seconds. Oliver is right in there also. Watching the live timing is almost as good as freecaster.

Killington GES Course Finalized

7 to 21 to 23 it will be an awesome course. there will be some rocks followed by pedaling in the middle then more rocks and then some loam at the end with nice switch back corners. trail 23 is the location of the ultimate 2009 drift witnessed by Bersmefski. set your blasters to fucking super velocity . it could be a 5 min plus race depending on conditions.

Mudfest #2

Whoops

I have a blog for my marketing class as well, posted on the wrong blog

Rogaine Commercial

Yesterday I saw a Rogaine commercial that I thought was very interesting. The commercial depicted a middle aged man (mid 40's) preparing for a job interview with his wife/daughter. He was nervous and anxious but naturally his newly grown hair thanks to Rogaine gave him the confidence he needed to succeed. He comes back home from his job interview and the family rejoices, all thanks to Rogaine. The reason this commercial made me think twice was because it was so clear who the target audience was. Usually with commercials it takes a little bit of detective work to figure out who the product is targeting but not in this case. In a age when unemployment rates are very high middle aged men are getting laid off quite frequently. These men's confidence has been shaken but Rogaine will be there to restore it. Have you noticed any other products that are trying to benefit from the current economic situation?
